Today is a day of being thankful, a day of happiness, a day of joy, a day of fun with family, and material possessions are overlooked on a daily basis because they are part of everyday life and we have grown accustom to having them in our lives.  But, what happens when that stuff is taken away?  What happens when something you love has been taken from you and you can’t reach out and touch it anymore? Usually, this is the moment when you realize you didn’t know what you had but now that it’s gone you realize how great it was.  Sometimes it’s the loss of something incredible that forces you to see what you’ve had and to be truly thankful for all the stuff you have in your life.

I am truly thankful for so much in my life and have fallen into a “grind of life” mentality that I should not have.  There is so much in life to be thankful for, but just living life has thrown me into a spiral of not being able to realize the incredible people and things around me.  Today is the day for this to stop! I challenge each and every person who reads this to take this step with me and vow to yourself to not take things for granted anymore.  Look around.  See the people and things you have in your life.  Don’t just have them in your field of vision, I mean actually SEE them, appreciate them, love them, care about them, listen to them, speak to them.  For all you know they may not be there forever!

For all my family and friends, I am truly thankful for everything you have done any continue to do; for allowing me to be a part of your life, putting up with my sometimes less than stellar personality, for dealing with my flaws and weaknesses and accepting them anyways, for lending a listening ear when I need it, but most of all, for adding to my life on a daily basis.  Without my family and friends I do not know where I’d be today.  The addition of love, care, happiness, humor, and joy they’ve thrown into my life has, without a doubt, pushed me to go farther every step I’ve taken and motivated me to attempt things I would have never attempted without them behind me.

Turn today, the rest of the month, the rest of this year, next year, and (why not) the rest of your life into a perpetual thanksgiving (without the huge feast).  Remind yourself everyday about the things around you that you should be thankful for.  Realize the love that surrounds you.  Realize the amazing people in your life.  Don’t allow yourself to feel regret or remorse for not knowing what you had until it was gone. Live every day with an unconditional thankfulness for everyone around you.  Have fun and be thankful for the things you can do.  Love everyone like you’ve never been hurt.

I hope all my readers enjoy their Thanksgiving Day and allow their hearts to be opened to the people around them.  Take the step with me and make an attempt to turn your life into a perpetual Thanksgiving! It may be difficult, but I know down the road I will grow to appreciate everything in my life so much more than I already do!  Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

First off, I would like to thank any of my followers, friends, and readers that have been, will be, or just happen to be reading my blog. It’s been 2 weeks since the start and I’m at over 500 views already, I never thought people would read and enjoy my stuff, let alone share it with everyone, so that being said… THANK YOU!

As we enter the month of November, I know we all have plenty on our minds. As students, we see the end of this semester coming closer, as adults we feel the Holidays coming on (stress and all), and we feel the cooler and nicer weather. We have so much to be thankful for, after all if you’re reading this you’re alive, you’re breathing, you’ve probably had something to eat or drink today, you have eyes that work, a brain that functions, and somewhere along the line you were taught how to read. That is 7 things. 7 things that most people take for granted just because it’s something many of us never actually think about.

There is truly so much to be thankful for in my life. I have the best family in the world, my parents love me and support me through thick and thin no matter what. My friends are absolutely incredible in every conceivable way. I have been blessed with so much!

Going into the next few weeks, into the Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, and New Year’s holidays, I challenge you to sit down and think about everything you have to be thankful for. Make a list, write it out, share it with people. Show the world how much you have to be thankful for and tell everyone who you are truly thankful for how much they mean to you. There is always so much in today’s society that revolves around “me, me, me, me, me”, well now… make it about everyone else for a day or two, go out there and really think about everything you have to be thankful for. I promise, sitting down and writing out a list may not sound like fun, but let it be an experience. A personal eye-opener to help you appreciate life and everything in it. Share with the world how thankful you are for everything and everyone you have.
