Song by John Legend

I’ve written about love before, but this song really is making me do it again. This is by far one of my favorite songs at the moment and is just one of those songs that just makes you think and feel. This kind of love is out there for every person, it is a type of love that everyone should feel once in their life. It is the kind of love that brings out the best in people. What kind of love am I talking about? It’s the love that knows no boundaries. The kind of love that, when you see that person, makes you feel like everything in the world is right. I know somewhere out there, somewhere, that kind of love exists for every person whether you believe it or not.

I may just be one of those people that believe that everyone exists on this world for a purpose and every person on this earth is supposed to, one day, find their purpose. But, I also believe that beyond the purpose of helping humanity in some way, each and every one of us has the purpose to love somebody unconditionally. The type of love that is portrayed in this song shows acknowledgement that no one is perfect, but it is the love of somebody’s imperfections that drives what true love really is. It is giving yourself and expecting the entirety of the other person that drives a relationship that is brought together by love. It is truly trusting in and believing in what you’ve got that keeps the relationship going.

Someday, I hope to find that love. Someday, I know I will find it. Someday, it’ll just show up unexpectedly and slap me in the face. Until that day, I will continue to believe that it’ll come, because, like I said, every person on this earth has a purpose. My purpose? Your purpose? Love unconditionally and with everything you have.

Today is a day of being thankful, a day of happiness, a day of joy, a day of fun with family, and material possessions are overlooked on a daily basis because they are part of everyday life and we have grown accustom to having them in our lives.  But, what happens when that stuff is taken away?  What happens when something you love has been taken from you and you can’t reach out and touch it anymore? Usually, this is the moment when you realize you didn’t know what you had but now that it’s gone you realize how great it was.  Sometimes it’s the loss of something incredible that forces you to see what you’ve had and to be truly thankful for all the stuff you have in your life.

I am truly thankful for so much in my life and have fallen into a “grind of life” mentality that I should not have.  There is so much in life to be thankful for, but just living life has thrown me into a spiral of not being able to realize the incredible people and things around me.  Today is the day for this to stop! I challenge each and every person who reads this to take this step with me and vow to yourself to not take things for granted anymore.  Look around.  See the people and things you have in your life.  Don’t just have them in your field of vision, I mean actually SEE them, appreciate them, love them, care about them, listen to them, speak to them.  For all you know they may not be there forever!

For all my family and friends, I am truly thankful for everything you have done any continue to do; for allowing me to be a part of your life, putting up with my sometimes less than stellar personality, for dealing with my flaws and weaknesses and accepting them anyways, for lending a listening ear when I need it, but most of all, for adding to my life on a daily basis.  Without my family and friends I do not know where I’d be today.  The addition of love, care, happiness, humor, and joy they’ve thrown into my life has, without a doubt, pushed me to go farther every step I’ve taken and motivated me to attempt things I would have never attempted without them behind me.

Turn today, the rest of the month, the rest of this year, next year, and (why not) the rest of your life into a perpetual thanksgiving (without the huge feast).  Remind yourself everyday about the things around you that you should be thankful for.  Realize the love that surrounds you.  Realize the amazing people in your life.  Don’t allow yourself to feel regret or remorse for not knowing what you had until it was gone. Live every day with an unconditional thankfulness for everyone around you.  Have fun and be thankful for the things you can do.  Love everyone like you’ve never been hurt.

I hope all my readers enjoy their Thanksgiving Day and allow their hearts to be opened to the people around them.  Take the step with me and make an attempt to turn your life into a perpetual Thanksgiving! It may be difficult, but I know down the road I will grow to appreciate everything in my life so much more than I already do!  Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Getting fixed

Contemplation of life and what life has to offer leads to some of the most incredible human emotions a person can have.

What does life have to offer?

Can I learn from my mistakes?

How will I get through this next day after all the times I’ve messed up?

Can I get out of moving in reverse?

I want NEED something to ignite me!

For everyone, there is a guide.  For me, it’s my relationship with God.  It’s been a relationship I’ve had for a really long time, a relationship that I’ve let suffer but still one that I hold on to and cherish.  I know every time I am struggling, every time I am in a corner, every time I need help to get out of a funk, and every time I need someone to help push me along this road we call life….

I have someone to look towards,

someone to pray to,

someone who will help me not only get by,

but truly conquer ANYTHING!

Religion is a touchy subject, one that causes fighting and arguments far too often.  But religion is something that the majority of people believe in.  It gives me something greater than myself to believe in.  It gives me more than hope.  After all, the coincidences of life can’t purely be coincidence all the time…. can it?  There has to be someone out there playing a role in my life,

I believe it, I know it as fact.

For someone else, maybe it’s not God that you believe in, maybe you believe in no higher powers.  Whatever you believe in, there is something that guides you out of the dark, a light for your path, something that guides you back to reality and out of the dark.   Stop trying to fight for what you want and really dig deep to find what you need.

What is it you truly need?

Love? Life? Happiness? Confidence? Family? Friends?

Life is no more than a roller coaster.  A roller coaster of emotions and happiness from day 1.

As a baby you are happy one second than hungry the next, only to be satisfied soon after and tired shortly after this.

As a child, optimism for what the day has to come and disappointment for not getting that one thing you so desperately wanted.

As a teenager, relationships and friendships are nothing more than their own personal roller coasters of ups and downs.

The list can go on and on, but for me, I find strength and confidence in my every day knowing that I have a “light that will guide me home” and someone who will not only try to fix me but will, in time succeed in making my life more than what I can even imagine.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11

What gives you hope?  What will fix you in your times of need?

For me, I can without a doubt say God, family, and friends.

For you?

My Wish For You

When I was graduating high school this song was just becoming popular and at my graduation party my mom had played this song for me.  Thinking lately about everything I’ve been through while in college, this song has meant a lot.  Through my entire time in college, I don’t think anyone has stood behind me and motivated me to do the best that I can do more than my mom.  Whenever I start getting down on myself, whenever I start doubting myself, whenever I don’t think I can do any better, she’s there giving me the confidence to keep going.  As a human we all have weaker moments where we doubt ourselves or don’t think we can push ourselves to do any better.  It’s at these moments where we hope someone close in our lives helps push us along to our full potential.

Mom, thank you for everything you’ve done for me; for motivating me, for pushing me to be a better person, for teaching me life lessons, for being there for me, for helping me, and for the never-ending list of things you have done for me in my life.  I don’t say this enough, thank you and I love you.  I couldn’t ask for a better mom, a mom who is my…

Who is your Wonderwall?

One of the most beautiful songs ever written remade in A Cappella.  This is an absolutely amazing remix of this song that really fills me with so many emotions.  It truly makes you think about anyone special in your life that you might have feelings for or once had feelings for.  Feelings of love, encouragement, a true desire for someone, or a purely innocent infatuation with someone you’ve known for a while or might have just met. There is someone out there that is your wonderwall, that one person in this world that saves you from despair or rejection.  The lyrics in themselves are so well put together you cannot help but to think about someone close to you while listening to the song, but the way this remix was done in A Cappella just mixes together everything to completely immerse you into deep thought and relaxation. Who is your wonderwall?

The lyrics are below if you would like to read them. Well written Oasis. Great Performance SNC.

Today is gonna be the day
That they’re gonna throw it back to you
By now you should’ve somehow
Realized what you gotta do
I don’t believe that anybody
Feels the way I do about you now

Backbeat the word was on the street
That the fire in your heart is out
I’m sure you’ve heard it all before
But you never really had a doubt
I don’t believe that anybody feels
The way I do about you now

And all the roads we have to walk along are winding
And all the lights that lead us there are blinding
There are many things that I would
Like to say to you
I don’t know how

Because maybe
You’re gonna be the one who saves me ?
And after all
You’re my wonderwall

Today was gonna be the day?
But they’ll never throw it back to you
By now you should’ve somehow
Realized what you’re not to do
I don’t believe that anybody
Feels the way I do
About you now

And all the roads that lead to you were winding
And all the lights that light the way are blinding
There are many things that I would like to say to you
I don’t know how

I said maybe
You’re gonna be the one who saves me ?
And after all
You’re my wonderwall

I said maybe
You’re gonna be the one who saves me ?
And after an
You’re my wonderwall

Said maybe
You’re gonna be the one that saves me
You’re gonna be the one that saves me
You’re gonna be the one that saves me

What Is Love?

Somebody asked me the question “What is love? What does it mean to you?” the other day.  Now when that question is asked, you immediately think of all the stuff that is taught to you growing up.  What love is supposed to be, that happy fairytale ending with “happily ever after” written shortly after beginning a family.  But what is it really? Is it “finding that certain someone you can annoy for the rest of your life”? Is it loving someone so deeply and so amazingly that you would do absolutely anything for that person, no matter what it is? Or better yet, as my mom and dad have taught me, is it a decision you make every morning when you wake up, and every night when you go to sleep?  A conscious decision to undoubtedly love your significant other when the going gets rough and the clouds over you begin to turn black?

Love, to me, is having that feeling in your gut that you know if that person walked out of the room you would almost instantly miss them.  That kind of childish attachment you have to your mother when you’re little.  Love is doing anything and everything for the other person just to see a smile, the kind of smile that brightens up your world and brings sunshine into the room even when it is as black as midnight outside.  Love is going to the end of the world for that other person.  Love is being so mad at the other person you can’t even speak, then getting a hug from them that literally stops the world’s rotation and stops the movement of time so much so that you can’t help but to feel comforted by their embracing arms.

Now, I may not be an expert in this whole “Love” thing, but I don’t think you need to be in a forever long relationship that ends in “I Do” to understand what love really truly is.  You feel it from birth until death.  From the womb to the grave.  Love is everywhere around you.  Friends that go out of their way to pick you up when you’re having car troubles and family members that are there for you when you hit a speed bump in life.  Most people think love is only around when you’re in a relationship with someone, but if I’ve learned anything over the last few years of my life, it’s that love is all around.  Each and every friend you make and talk to has some sort of love for you.  After all, in the society we live in today the word is thrown around like it means nothing, but to someone on a bad day, it means the world.

What brought this on?  Me realizing I have some of the best friends in the world, the best family a person could imagine, and continue to meet new people every day that could potentially change the meaning of my life.  I’m 30,000 feet above the earth right now and know that as I fly to my destination, someone somewhere is thinking about me and is hoping I have a safe flight.  They may not have the same definition of love as I do, but in the long run, isn’t hoping I land safely just so you can text me and say hey, and hoping I return home safely so I can hang out with you one last time to have another laugh love?  I may not be able to reflect on my life and past relationships to tell you what love actually is, but I don’t think you need a successful girlfriend/boyfriend kind of relationship to understand this concept.

What is love?  Love is everywhere.  Love is grateful. Love is Kind. Love does not envy.  Love does not boast.  Love is in heaven.  Love is on earth.  Love comes from your parents, and your friends.  Love comes from every breath you make and every time you think of someone.  Love is absolute and never-ending.  Love cannot be broken.  Love is a promise and a connection.  Love is a decision (unconscious and conscious) that must be made daily.  Love is love and for anyone who reads this, I love you for who you are and what you have done in my life.  No matter how little you think you have done, or how great an influence you have been, I love you for everything you have done and will continue to do.  That is love to me… What is love to you?

What is life? Life is the times that make you smile, the times that make you laugh, the times that make you cry, and the times that you’ll never forget. Life is this thing that can be taken away from you in a blink of an eye, but people take it for granted more often than not.

What is life? It’s having those friendships that last a lifetime, having those nights that are so amazingly epic you remember it until the day you die. It’s the ups and downs of emotions you get from relationships, the struggles and accomplishments you have in school and work, but most of all it’s the ability to stand up and fight for what you believe in.

What is life? Life is no more than a second long in the grand scheme of things, yet most people spend every second of their life worrying about what’s wrong and what others think. Life is so much more than eating, sleeping, drinking, and breathing. Life is a never ending quest to socialize and have fun; it’s having those all-nighters to comfort a friend who needs it. Life is about making decisions and living with them, looking back and having no regrets, but most of all it’s about knowing you have those best friends who will have your back even when you are being stupid.

What is life? Life is knowing stuff doesn’t happen the way you want it to but remembering everything happens for a reason. Life is having those awkward moments when the person you love brings their significant other around and you can’t say a word because you just want them to be happy. Life is taking close friends and helping them out in any way you can and every step of the way. Life is amazing and disappointing, happy and sad, good and bad, depressing and motivational.

What is life? Life is finding morals to live for, finding ideals to live by, and living and working for something greater than yourself. Life is being selfish but being considerate. Life is holding on to family because more likely than not they have your back. Life is wanting to get revenge but not actually following through. Life is doing things you don’t want to do and pretending like you are having the time of your life. Life is searching for meaning and finding none, then searching again and finding it in the people and friends around you.

Life is life. Sometimes life could be better; sometimes you really wish it would. Sometimes it’s hard to find the light at the end of the tunnel, but if you can’t see it, it’s because you aren’t looking. Yes, life has its ups and downs, its good times and its bad times. Overall, life is nothing, nothing short of amazing. The people in my life continue to strengthen me and bring me up when times get rough, and for that I thank each and every one of you.

So what is life? Life is being torn down and built back up, living, laughing, and loving. Life is life, and life is great. What’s life to you?
