We’ve all heard the proverbial saying “patience is a virtue”, but what does it really mean?  Patience is nothing more than being able to put our wants and desires on hold for a given period of time.  Patience is something all of us want and need but few of us master it.  Patience and I, well… let’s just say we’re not on good terms!  I want so badly sometimes something to just come into my life, something to give me instant satisfaction and gratification.  That’s how I’ve always been, I don’t know why!

Patience is definitely something a virtue that must be practiced and perfected but something that can only be practiced through experiences no one really wants. It shows up at work, at school, with your parents, with your friends, with God, and with essentially everything and everyone you come into contact with.  You even experience having to use patience as a baby, dirty diapers and hunger can’t all be undone in a blink of an eye even though you cry your brains out and want it to be fixed.  Patience is something I struggle with so badly, and it really turns up around this time of the year.  I am one of the MOST impatient people you’ll ever meet around Christmas, I buy presents for friends and family and they buy presents for me and I just want everyone to open everything so I don’t have to wait to see the smiles on their faces when they open their presents.  Patience is something I want and need, but I know it doesn’t just come over night (maybe it’s something I can put on my Christmas list)! So until I begin to master this virtually impossible to master virtue, I will not only wait and practice, but I will keep a good attitude while waiting.  To me, that’s patience, staying optimistic while having to wait for what we desire.

I know for a fact every human on this planet wants something NOW! Sleep, caffeine, food, a drink, family, friends, comfort, a friendly ear, or maybe it’s just one small second of rest from this hectic lifestyle.  But I promise waiting for whatever it is you want and desire will make finally getting it that much better.  Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s…. the wait, it’s unbearable! I want so much, right now!  But I must wait, and that waiting, I know will bring with it more joy.  Take time out of this busy, “it’s all about the here and now”, “I must have it now” materialistic society we all live in, and instead of enjoying what we see in the future and the things we may be getting, think about what we have and are blessed with.  There is so much, and because I know I have so much, I know I can wait and be patient with optimism for what is to come.

Attitude is Everything

Attitude is the way you think.

Your attitude is something other people can actually see

They can hear it in your voice,

See it in the way you move,

Feel it when they are with you.

Your attitude expresses itself in everything you do,

All the time, wherever you are.

Positive attitudes always invite positive results.

Negative attitudes always invite negative results.

Attitude makes a difference every hour, everyday,

In everything you do for your entire life.

What you get out of everything you do,

Will equal the attitude you have when you do it.

If you have a positive attitude, you are looking for ways

To solve the problems you solve,

And are letting go of the things

Over which you have no control.

You can develop a positive attitude by emphasizing the good,

By being tough-minded, and by refusing defeat.

Is the glass half empty or half full for you?

Do you look around and see only negative things or do you look around and see things that can be changed for the better?

Can you see the true good in people?

For one day this week, go out and have a positive attitude about everything!  If something happens that’s bad, brush it off with a “no worries” and keep moving along.  Negative events and pessimism can be just a second of your life or it can control your life, the choice is up to each and every one of us.  Having a positive outlook on life and being optimistic about things around you can be contagious to those around you. I would like nothing more than to see our world begin to be turned around by people being optimistic and positive about the world and the nonsense we endure and live through on a daily basis!

Go out, be positive, be optimistic, show the world what you have goin’ for you and keep your chin up through thick and thin!  Change the world one smile and one positive attitude at a time!  I promise you’ll be shocked how your daily relationships with everyone you encounter begin to change when positivity comes into play.

What is wrong with this world!

Day in and day out the news shows me things so morally wrong, so ethically disgusting, and so obviously (for lack of a better word) idiotic.  What is going on… Joe pa at Penn State, Occupy everything, the economy, politics, sex scandals, harassment allegations, the world is going NUTS!

Mob mentality, in its most simple definition, is being shown by Penn State as I type this.  Riots to SUPPORT a man who “should’ve done more” BUT didn’t! One person starts not being able to handle his/her anger leads to misguided attacks, this attack stimulates others in this once peaceful protest, this protest now becomes a riot.  America, Penn State, World…. GET A GRIP!  How morally wrong, how bad of a person do you have to be to say a man(one who KNEW about child sexual abuse and did nothing… that’s right, NOTHING) should be allowed to continue his career as an NCAA football coach when obviously he does not have the moral compass a human being should possess.  Yes, I admit, he’s human.  We, as humans, are not perfect.  We, as humans, make mistakes on a daily basis.  We, as humans, are the most imperfect beings on the planet.  However, we, as humans, are instilled with morality and ethics.  We, as humans, have something no other living thing on this planet has.  This thing, like I stated before, is morality.

There is so much wrong with this world.  Greed, Gluttony, Lust, Immorality, Envy, Pride, Envy… could it get worse?  The reasons these problems are existing right now in this world are due to a lack of compassion, caring and ethics, but also, it’s due to an overall sense of most people believing they are self-righteous and should have things given to them.  I am guilty of it, you are guilty of it, every person on this planet is guilty of self-righteous or selfish thoughts.  But, if you are in a national (even international) spotlight where people look up to you and see you as a powerful figure, you need to hold yourself with class and dignity.  Joe Paterno, did not and obviously cannot do this.  I don’t feel bad for Joe Paterno at all, he made his mistake, he knew he was making a mistake, he continued making a mistake, and to me, the magnitude of this mistake is unforgivable… the mistake he made is nothing more than a disgustingly selfish act by a man who cared about his career and his football team so much that he let illegal actions take place and he didn’t do anything about it.  Joe pa… hindsight is 20/20 for sure, and I’m glad you see that, but I learned morals and ethics as a child, I know right from wrong.  If this is something you did not learn until now, in your nearly 85 years of life on this planet, I can only say, WOW.  Now, as a community, as a sports community, as a human community, we have a few choices.  We can proceed as some Penn State students see fit and riot his “hasty and wrongful firing”, we can see this man as he truly is, a human being who made disgustingly immoral decisions to protect a friend and assistant coach of his, or simply forget about Penn State, Penn State football, Joe Paterno, and everything about College Park and just pray for and keep the 8 young boys who have been sexually harassed by Jerry Sandusky in this Penn State debacle in your thoughts.

Occupying everything is not going to fix things.  Occupying wall street, occupying Oakland, occupying Orlando, and occupying random cities everywhere is not going to bring our country out of recession, it’s not going to do a thing.  The reason I say this is solely because, you “occupiers” as a whole do not know what you are protesting.  Everyone is protesting something different.  Talk to the majority of anyone occupying somewhere, then talk to the person standing next to them, I bet you will actually see something quite humorous… confusion between 2 “occupiers” within feet of each other.  How about we try this. Stop thinking you DESERVE things, and WORK for them.  Stop blaming others for misfortunes your own actions have caused.  Stop occupying places with a “cause” you can’t even define as a group.  Stop complaining.  Stop being stupid America.  Enough is enough.  It is time for each person to take responsibility for your life!  Take responsibility for your decisions and actions, but most of all, if you cannot take responsibility for your own life and what it has become at least have the courage to say that.  But seriously, STOP OCCUPYING CITIES AND GO FIND A JOB! There are plenty of jobs, McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Wal-mart, K-mart, Burger King, Publix… the list goes on and on and on and on and on.  You are NOT too good for these jobs, you, as an American citizen, should be instilled with a spirit of hard work, the spirit of our Fore Fathers.  Work for what you want, fight for what you want, but seriously stop pointing fingers at others to sweep your own bad decisions and mistakes under the rug. It’s time to take responsibility for your lives.  It’s time to get back to work.  It is time to fix this world that is becoming nothing more than an immoral and unethical breeding ground for so many people.

Followers, readers of mine, if you know me or read my posts normally, you know I am not usually one to post about current events going on, politics, or anything that may cause uproar.  But this is my call to you!  Make a difference!  Fight for what you want!  Let me say this again, fight for what YOU want!  Take the road less traveled and begin to make and live with the decisions humans must make daily.  Let’s start fixing the world by fixing ourselves first.  Morality and ethics are 2 things that could begin to make this downward spiral our planet is in start to turn upright.  Look at yourselves in the mirror, seriously look.  If you can realize all the good things in your life rather than focusing on the negative, the world will become brighter and the world will become a better place with time.  It’s up to us, this is our world, this is our planet, we are all one human family, make ethical choices, make good decisions, take responsibility for your life, work for what you want and need, but most importantly

“Be the change you want to see in the world.”

-Mahatma Gandhi

In my opinion, quite possibly the most amazing use of alliteration ever! This might be one of my favorite speech’s made in any movie ever! This amazing speech followed by another great part of the movie, V’s recitation of “Remember remember the 5th of November”!

Evey: Who are you?
V. : Who? Who is but the form following the function of what and what I am is a man in a mask.
Evey: Well I can see that.
V. : Of course you can, I’m not questioning your powers of observation, I’m merely remarking upon the paradox of asking a masked man who he is.
Evey: Oh, right.
V. : But on this most auspicious of nights, permit me then, in lieu of the more commonplace soubriquet, to suggest the character of this dramatis persona. Voila! In view humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the “vox populi” now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a bygone vexation stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin, van guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition.
The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous.
Verily this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it’s my very good honour to meet you and you may call me V.
Evey: Are you like a crazy person?
V. : I’m quite sure they will say so.

Getting fixed

Contemplation of life and what life has to offer leads to some of the most incredible human emotions a person can have.

What does life have to offer?

Can I learn from my mistakes?

How will I get through this next day after all the times I’ve messed up?

Can I get out of moving in reverse?

I want NEED something to ignite me!

For everyone, there is a guide.  For me, it’s my relationship with God.  It’s been a relationship I’ve had for a really long time, a relationship that I’ve let suffer but still one that I hold on to and cherish.  I know every time I am struggling, every time I am in a corner, every time I need help to get out of a funk, and every time I need someone to help push me along this road we call life….

I have someone to look towards,

someone to pray to,

someone who will help me not only get by,

but truly conquer ANYTHING!

Religion is a touchy subject, one that causes fighting and arguments far too often.  But religion is something that the majority of people believe in.  It gives me something greater than myself to believe in.  It gives me more than hope.  After all, the coincidences of life can’t purely be coincidence all the time…. can it?  There has to be someone out there playing a role in my life,

I believe it, I know it as fact.

For someone else, maybe it’s not God that you believe in, maybe you believe in no higher powers.  Whatever you believe in, there is something that guides you out of the dark, a light for your path, something that guides you back to reality and out of the dark.   Stop trying to fight for what you want and really dig deep to find what you need.

What is it you truly need?

Love? Life? Happiness? Confidence? Family? Friends?

Life is no more than a roller coaster.  A roller coaster of emotions and happiness from day 1.

As a baby you are happy one second than hungry the next, only to be satisfied soon after and tired shortly after this.

As a child, optimism for what the day has to come and disappointment for not getting that one thing you so desperately wanted.

As a teenager, relationships and friendships are nothing more than their own personal roller coasters of ups and downs.

The list can go on and on, but for me, I find strength and confidence in my every day knowing that I have a “light that will guide me home” and someone who will not only try to fix me but will, in time succeed in making my life more than what I can even imagine.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11

What gives you hope?  What will fix you in your times of need?

For me, I can without a doubt say God, family, and friends.

For you?

My Wish For You

When I was graduating high school this song was just becoming popular and at my graduation party my mom had played this song for me.  Thinking lately about everything I’ve been through while in college, this song has meant a lot.  Through my entire time in college, I don’t think anyone has stood behind me and motivated me to do the best that I can do more than my mom.  Whenever I start getting down on myself, whenever I start doubting myself, whenever I don’t think I can do any better, she’s there giving me the confidence to keep going.  As a human we all have weaker moments where we doubt ourselves or don’t think we can push ourselves to do any better.  It’s at these moments where we hope someone close in our lives helps push us along to our full potential.

Mom, thank you for everything you’ve done for me; for motivating me, for pushing me to be a better person, for teaching me life lessons, for being there for me, for helping me, and for the never-ending list of things you have done for me in my life.  I don’t say this enough, thank you and I love you.  I couldn’t ask for a better mom, a mom who is my…
